ROOM REVIEW - WILLIAM HILL POKER |
 |
William
Hill Poker is one of the more popular poker rooms in Europe,
with its soft games and good bonuses. It is one of the few
UK rooms also open for US players. They use CryptoLogic platform,
with a shared player base. The games are among the very loosest
today, so if you are looking for an easy-to-win game this
is a good room. The player volume has more than four-doubled
during 2004, as they have introduced no-limit and pot-limit
games. The software is quite functional, however the graphics
are not the nicest. William Hill has a very advantageous monthly
bonus scheme in which you get £25 to play 5 hours each
month (converted this equals to about $40). There is also
an open "proposition player" program, where you
get paid to play in new and short-handed games. |

HILL POKER - INTERFACE |
| William
Hill Poker uses CryptoLogic software and network, with a
shared player base with other room operators such as Inter Poker,
Caribbean Sun Poker and Betfair. The software is not so visually
appealing but works reasonably well after some major upgrades
by Cryptologic during 2005. The time bar is coloured which makes
it easier to see when you have to make the play which is further
enhanced by voice options such as the "dealer flops"
and "your turn". Great if you are making a cup of
tea or away from the computer but you have to be quick as there
is not that much time to make the play. |

WILLIAM
HILL POKER - PLAYER TABLES |
The
table graphics are plain and simple. Definitely no finesse
here so for those that enjoy fancy player avatars or even
using a preferred image as with Poker Stars, this is not the
site for you. However, it has some of the best voice options
available today. There is also a reasonable player options
settings where you can change the look of the cards, sound
and chat. You can play at as many tables simultaneously as
you want, although the flip flopping screens can make play
at more than one table rather hazardous as it is easy to press
a button at the wrong table. We think that the colour scheme
ooze more quality than most of the other Cryptologic-based
poker rooms. |

WILLIAM
HILL POKER - RING GAMES |
The
Cryptologic network has increased greatly during 2005 which
means that the ring game volumes at William Hill Poker are
growing quickly with peak player volumes reaching around 10,000
with off peak at around 2,000 plus. William Hill Poker supports
some of the highest online limit and no limit games. The action
is often fast and loose. Sometimes extremely loose. The action
is mainly at the Texas Holdem tables. However, there is definitely
a growing interest in the Omaha and 7 Card Stud poker variants. |

HILL POKER - TOURNAMENTS |
William
Hill Poker's multi-table tournaments are reasonable whereas
their Sit and Go tournaments are poor. It is difficult to
get to play in a single table tournament as you can be waiting
a very long time before it starts; only for the most patient.
The multi-table tournaments occur approx. every 30 minutes
or so. The tournament list has grown considerably in 2005
and now has a much wider range and frequency than a year ago,
but there is still a great deal of catch up to the tournament
leaders such as Party Poker and Poker Stars. As with almost
all online poker rooms, there are qualifiers to the big poker
events. |

Cryptologic is getting far
greater player volumes which makes William Hill Poker
a far more interesting poker room than before. With its
£25 rakeback for frequent players, William Hill
Poker makes a lot of sense. A lot of loose action and
plenty of high stake games at both limit and no limit. |
