ROOM REVIEW - PARADISE POKER |
 |
Paradise
Poker has been and still is one of the definite leaders
in online poker, with reliable software and very high player
volumes. The relatively low rating is due to its "hard
to beat" games, no loyalty programme and no telephone
support; apart from that, there is little to fault Paradise
Poker. There might be the odd loose player but overall the
quality of players are tougher than at most other sites. Where
Paradise Poker scores highly is in its high player volumes
and having amongst the best game variety. Paradise player
volumes range between 5,000 to over 10,000. It was taken over
by Sportingbet.plc and is now listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Poker has a lot going for it. As with all sites, there are
good and bad players. The level of play at pokerroom.com is
relatively high so there are far easier sites to make money.
From experience, the $5-10 No Limit tables contain the most
bluffers and players whereas the tighter games can be found
amongst the $2-$4 No Limit tables. All kind of weird stuff at
the lower No Limit tables. At the bottom of this page, you can
see comments made by G-index members about Pokerroom. |

POKER - INTERFACE |
| Paradise
Poker has very good software and reliable servers. The platform
is one of the most quick and stable in the industry. We still
haven't experienced a server crash which so many other sites
are plagued with. The lobby interface is uncluttered and easy
to use with extensive information about each table and game.
The only slight reservation is that the stakes shows the maximum
for No Limit rather than the blinds. For regular players this
is probably not a big problem but for new players, it can be
confusing. Paradise Poker supports notes on other players and
has good statistics functions. |
 |
PARADISE
POKER - PLAYER TABLES |
The
player interface is clean and good quality graphics. However,
there are only seats with gold ovals representing the players.
There are no player avatars. There is sound but very limited.
There is no warning for example that it is your turn. Having
said that, there is a very accessible statistics function
at the top left corner (as we view it) and player note function.
For those that enjoy chatting whilst playing, it has a rare
function which is that whenever a player chats, his/her comments
appear both in the chat box as well as underneath his/her
name plate. |

PARADISE
POKER - RING GAMES |
Paradise
Poker was the world's largest poker site for years. But with
the rapid development of rivals, they lost the top spots and
are now at position 3 to 5 in terms of player volumes. However,
the traffic is still much higher today than back then, as
the online poker market has exploded. Paradise Poker is still
one of the leaders in terms of player volumes but definitely
amongst the top 3 in terms of poker variations supported online.
Only negative is that No Limit is only available for Texas
Holdem but no Pot Limit in Holdem (?!), and there is no No
Limit for either Omaha or Omaha Hi/Lo. |

POKER - TOURNAMENT |
Paradise
Poker tournament traffic is very good after the introduction
of multi-table games back in late 2003. At peak times the
traffic now reaches over 5,000. Single table tourneys (stop
and go) are mainly texas holdem ranging from $5 to $300. There
are single tourneys for Omaha Hi/Lo and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo.
The multi-table tournaments are again mainly texas holdem
although there are quite a few Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and 7 Card
Stud tournaments. The tournament list could be clearer in
the lobby although detailed information can be obtained by
clicking on the tournament info link. Below is just a list
of the regular Guaranteed tournaments. There are over 40 daily
scheduled tournaments. Take your pick! |

Well run poker room. Great
game variety and many variants support micro stake limits
($0.01-0.02 or $0.02-0.04). Excellent to practice before
delving into higher stake games. Tough games though; hard
to find "easy to make money" games. Miss the
player sound warning when it is one's turn to act. Find
the tournament list confusing and impossible to see clearly
which are regularly scheduled events. A big minus is that
there is no telephone support, but the e-mail support
is very quick and knowledgeable. |

like the interface better
than the rest (of course this is subjective) but everything
about it seems more fluid in general. the cards are dealt
at a good speed, and the moves are also at a good speed.
The tournaments that are offered here are more appealing
than most, including the fact you can play heads-up tournaments
that some of the other sites dont offer. The interface
has a clean lay-out and is easiest to navigate! Great
place to play poker! |
