The rankings are based upon the number of loose and passive
games as well as the number of players who play according to
the "lady luck" factor rather than using pot odds/implied
odds when making their play selection.
A loose player would be someone who calls a $10 preflop at
a $0.50/$1 with Ten 2 off suit and then goes all in after
pairing either the Ten or the 2, or someone who calls a £3
preflop at a £1/£2 and then calls a £100
all in on a double ended straight draw. The pot odds are just
terrible for either of these players. They might get lucky
and make a winning draw, but if you play the odds, you will
beat these players over time.
We at G-index are compiling a members' list of players that
are easier to make money from than others. These are commonly
referred to as:
- Calling Stations
- Fishes
- Loose
Many of the poorest players play at poker sites that are
often associated with a casino, horse racing and/or sports
betting such as Betfair, William Hill, Victor Chandler and
Ladbrokes. They tend to strongly believe in lady luck and
often do not have a clue about pot odds.
Several poker rooms offer notes function, to facilitate write-ups
on opponents. There are also 3rd party tracking and analysis
software available for some poker rooms to map your opponents
(using historical hands functions). Both these functions make
it easier to play a winning game, by better adjusting your
game to specific opponents. |
